THE E-MAIL IMPORTER

Imports > Email Picks

The E-Mail Importer is now for all intents and purposes strickly a backup import system. The E-Mail Importer has been specifically configured to work with the E-Mail Picksheet.

If you are using a separate Email program to import the picks

Step by Step Tutorial:

1) Create and send out an  E-Mail Picksheet to members to allow pool members to reply with their picks to you.

2) After receiving the e-mail picksheets, do the following:

3) Open the E-Mail Importer window.

4) Click the "Import from Clipboard" tab.

5) Open up your mail program.

6) Open a picksheet message in your mail program.

7) Select (highlight) the text lines that contain an "=" equal sign. You do this by holding down the left mouse button and dragging it over the lines that contain an "=" equal sign. Note: Do not worry if the pool member's e-mail program has inserted special characters like >>". The Importer will ignore them.

8) Click the right mouse button and when the popup menu appears, choose Copy. The text is now on the clipboard and ready to import into the NFLPMl.

9) In the E-Mail Importer window, click on the "Get from Clipboard" button. The text will now show in the import text window.

10) Click on the "Import Player Picks" button. That's it! The picks are now entered in the pool and you can check the Verification window to make sure everything went right.

A Few Hints:

Minimize the main NFLPM screen when you have the Importer open, and keep your mail program and Import window opened up at the same time. Both windows should show in the Taskbar, and use the Taskbar to jump from window to window.

If you are using the Built-In Email program to import the picks:

NOTE: Please read the HINTS section at the bottom of this page.

You should  configure the email account you want to use to import the picks.

Step by Step Tutorial:

1) Retrieve and Import: It is not recommended that you remove messages from the server. This email client is meant as a fast, easy way to import pool picks. It is not built to safely store email messages or attachments, nor is it meant to replace your *real* Email program.

2) Messages are Removed or Left on Server: Depending on if you have a dedicated E-Mail address for your picksheet, how many picksheets you have each week, if the E-Mail address is you main E-Mail address also, do you want or need a record save, etc, etc it's your decision and only history will help you decide but I would err on the side of caution.

3) Use This Dial-Up Account :

4) If you use Dial Up Internet access and are not already connected, click the dial in button now.

5) Now click the "Retrieve and Import" TAB.

6) Click on the "Check for Messages" button.

7) After a list of messages appear, click on the message you wish to import or view.

8) If it is a picksheet message, click the "Import Player Picks" button.

9) If the picks have been imported already there will be no bullit point before the sender name in the sender column.

10) There are 2 other options ou can set,Verify # of games picked and Validate Password.

11) Import Player Picks,, Exit.

A Few Hints:

If you get an error message when clicking the "Check for Messages" button, hit the "Disconnect" button, and try again.

Most free Web-based email services like Hotmail, Yahoo, Excite etc. will not allow SMTP connections so you cannot use these services as a POP3 account.. There are free Email services that do allow these connections and work great with the Email client. At the time of this writing, Geocities offered free POP3 accounts. Try also doing a Web search for "FREE POP3".
